This is a diet that I can get behind!

The 100-mile diet is the simple act of eating foods grown in your immediate environment.

In fact, this locavore movement has been set in motion for centuries and it steeps in ancient wisdom. For decades, our ancestors consumed food in its most natural state – unrefined. In other words, plants receive only the simple nourishment from the sun, clean air, water, and pure healthy soil. Definitely void of chemicals, pesticides, and artificial additives.

Eating locally grown food wasn’t a trend, it was a way of life.

Unfortunately, the food many of us consider to be local actually ships from thousands of miles away. In reality, we consume nutritionally depleted fruits and vegetables. Meanwhile, also increasing the greenhouse gas emissions expended on shipping that food from farm to table. This is one of the reasons environmentalists have always been staunch supporters of the local farm to table movement.

Here are some of the benefits to eating locally produced food:
  • Reduces your carbon footprint
  • Supports your local farmers
  • Boosts your local economy
  • Powers up your health when consuming food with higher nutritional value
  • Diversifies your diet
  • Fuels up on a myriad of antioxidants
  • And, enjoy tastier fruits and veggies!

More importantly, consuming foods grown in your immediate environment brings us back in alignment with nature. So if you are living in one region of the world but eating food from another region, you are in effect weakening your immune system.

No matter where you are in the world, something grows locally.

For vitality and optimal health, it is imperative that we align ourselves with our current geographical location. With this in mind, seek out your local CSA and find the nearest farmers’ market. Then, connect with your local farmers and support local restaurants that provide farm to table menus.

The 100-mile diet will transform your health and the planet in the process!
