The Power of Wellness Travel

wellness travel

I finally put myself first and the result was life changing.

Our busy lives and hectic routines are anxiously keeping us all on auto-pilot. The overwhelming amount of to-do lists and constant worrying is taking a serious toll on our physical and mental well-being. As a result, being “plugged in” while running on “empty” leaves us feeling depleted and uninspired. No matter how stressful things get, rarely do we take time to rest and recuperate. We come in dead last on that to-do list, and oftentimes we don’t even make the list.

It’s time to put yourself first.

And that’s exactly what I did when I pulled the trigger on a weekend escape that granted me the luxury of simply forgetting about everything and worrying about nothing. There is no better way to rejuvenate and recharge than to nourish your body and soul with a wellness getaway! Wellness travel doesn’t have to mean a full three days of yoga and meditation. The key is to work on parts of your personal health that you have been neglecting, and then focus on the areas that you feel need the most love and attention.

Enter: Le Blanc Spa Resort!

leblanc

This Five-Diamond gem is one of the many wonderful Palace Resorts in Cancun, Mexico. Another Le Blanc is set to open in Cabo San Lucas this fall!

I have to admit, I usually don’t do all-inclusive resorts. But, Le Blanc is 100% Fuddhist approved! The quality food, outstanding service, and sheer beauty of the surroundings all contribute to the seemingly magical energy of the resort. The moment you check in, the warm staff greets you with a glass of fresh coconut milk and deliciously crisp granny smith apples. You are then introduced to your butler.

Yes, everyone gets a butler!

I must admit, at first I felt a bit uncomfortable asking for things. But, Roberto’s welcoming spirit helped me to quickly rid of those silly reservations. He was always cheerful and ready to serve! First of all, did I mention that my room was already stocked with champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, and gourmet treats? What more could I ask for?! Well, I do recall having a strong craving for extra dark chocolate one night, and Roberto was more than happy to oblige. 🙂 The impeccable service doesn’t end with a charming butler.

Hold tight, the pampering is about to reach new heights!

Say hello to Le Blanc’s “Comfort Menu”.

Le Blanc offers in-room aromatherapy, a variety of bath salts, and even an assortment of pillows to choose from!

Every morning, to help balance my body and mind, my room smelled of pure coconut and verbena oils. And in the afternoon, Roberto would change it to a revitalizing Australian eucalyptus and mint. At night, I was gifted with the relaxing aroma of lavender leaves.

In addition to my personalized aromatherapy, every evening my tub was prepared with my preferred bath salt (lavender-vanilla). Next level spoiling. Gracias, Roberto! As if I wasn’t relaxed enough, I had many pillow options to choose from: orthopedic, lavender, chamomile, goose feather, and hypo-allergenic. You can’t really go wrong with any of these choices, but I’m a goose feather kind of girl. 😉

Can I stay here forever?

Getaways where you come back with more cargo than you left with are not for me. I like to keep it moving during my travels! I’ve never been a fan of a solo routine at the gym because I get bored quite quickly. I believe keeping your body guessing is the key to staying consistent with your workout. Thankfully, Le Blanc had a variety of fitness classes that kept me mega motivated and in shape during my stay!

That mini flan wasn’t going to burn itself off. 😉

I signed up for aquatic spin, TRX, salsa, zumba, pilates, and wound things down with meditation and hatha yoga classes. Then came the post-workout treat. 😉 After sweating it out, I would lay out oceanside, soaking up the wonderful Mexican sun at one of Le Blanc’s stunning infinity pools.

Ok ladies, let’s get right to it. The Spa. Wow!

First off, your drink of choice. They had everything, from skin-loving chlorophyll on tap to my personal favorite, a mint-beet infusion drink. 😉 Mmmmm! And the beautifully serene relaxation area was always stocked with delectable dates and an assortment of fresh fruit and nuts to snack on.

Furthermore, the spa offers a cold/hot plunge hydrotherapy tub, music therapy sauna, and herbal steam room. There’s even a bucket of freshly cut cucumbers, as well as thermal lavender and eucalyptus water for you to spray on before entering the sauna. Most noteworthy was the lavender rosemary mud mask and CHI deep-conditioning treatment. Let’s just say my face was green, my hair was dripping in conditioner, I was sporting cucumber glasses, and I’ve never been happier.

The cherry on top of the self-care cake. My Kukulcan massage.

The Kukulcan massage is both a physical and spiritual cleansing ritual. This Mayan practice involves two masseuses who use four hands to simulate a choreographed movement of the sacred jaguar, snake, and eagle. The Mayans believed we were all born with an animal spirit, and each animal represents a different life energy. Especially relevant is the snake, who holds a healing power that represents transformational change. Their hands mimicked a snake motion for a portion of the massage, and it was unlike anything else I had ever experienced.

Prior to the massage, the masseuses had me burn a copal, a resin used from pre-Mesoamerica, to help cleanse the body and mind of negative energies and anything that may be holding us back. I then indulged in two blissful hours of complete abandonment.

It was the perfect ending to an unforgettably epic weekend.

The goal of any healthy-minded travel is to return home feeling revitalized, centered, and inspired to continue living a healthy life. These new experiences offer you a newly inspired perspective and allow you to see life with fresh eyes, shedding light on what truly matters. Restoring your mental and physical health is the greatest investment you can make. I grant you permission to pamper yourselves. You’re worth it.

There is no better way to serve others than by serving yourself first.
