It’s my favorite recipe!

Instead of eating it, I slather it on my face. No facial comes close to the magic of Coco-Cado Caney Face Mask.

It begins with my favorite fruit of all time. AVOCADO. The Cado part of this recipe will nourish and hydrate your skin all while slowing down the aging process. Hello Monounsaturated fatty acids! The fab omega-3 fatty acid in avocados works to lock in moisture and keep your face glowing! This wonderful fruit is an antioxidant powerhouse (vitamin A, C, K, B6, E…fill in the blank) that naturally helps repair damaged skin. This is an edible no brainer!

Coconut Oil. I can’t begin to explain how in love I am with this ingredient. I use it for almost everything! Coconut oil is chock full of antioxidants that pump the brakes on free radical damage. It keeps your skin supple and elastic while stimulating collagen production. Buh bye wrinkles! It also helps protect you against harmful UV rays and works as a natural SPF! All the healthy acids in coconut oil provide your face with a love army of beauty protection. It’s strong antimicrobial/antiviral properties help kill acne causing bacteria and protect the skin from infections. Most people think, “oil on my face?! NOOO!” Rest easy my Fuddhies, coconut oil actually helps unclog blocked pores and remove dirt. This is the #1 way I get rid of blackheads!

Sugar Cane is a super sweet natural exfoliator 😉 It’s gentle and safe yet still super effective at scrubbing away dead skin cells paving the way for some seriously glowing skin! Cane sugar also contains glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxyl acid that helps fight bacteria while keeping your skin bright and healthy. As if things could get any sweeter, cane sugar is also a natural humectant, helping keep moisture in, masterfully hydrating and conditioning your skin.

Ooooh HONEY child. Honey is incredibly hydrating and ironically also wonderful at exfoliating skin cells. Honey contains anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, as well as antiseptic properties. So long acne!
When used religiously, honey helps fade unsightly scars and blemishes. I can tell you from experience this has worked better than any expensive cream I’ve ever been prescribed by a dermatologist.

Lastly, a dash of fresh lemon juice! Lemon is a natural astringent, which helps tighten and shrink large pores.

Directions
  1. Mix above ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Apply on a clean face and let sit for 5 minutes.

Ladies, I know why you’re here, I get it. That horrid “orange peel syndrome.”

Ok, so it’s not deadly, but it plagues us and makes us feel like shit. It’s time to get over the whole “it’s bitter” noise and start to love us some grapefruit! This wonderful Ruby Red helps break down fat in heroic fashion. Its primary weapons are an anti-inflammatory and skin cleansing enzyme called bromelain and a chemical called Naringenin that helps break down fatty acids. Bla-DOW cellulite! You want them on your team. Grapefruits are your friend.

Get it in early. A glass of grapefruit in the morning will help curb your appetite and keep the weight off by stabilizing your blood sugar. Grapefruits are chock full of fiber, which will keep you full and keep you away from mindless snacking. Don’t take my word for it, try it for yourself. Some mornings I’ll eat an entire grapefruit, others I’ll juice a grapefruit and have my breakfast 15-20 minutes after. If you really can’t stomach the bitterness, you can juice an orange with half a grapefruit and start there. Of all the fruit juices, grapefruit juice delivers the highest amount of antioxidants so it’s worth acquiring a taste for it. Numerous studies have shown that simply smelling a grapefruit reduces our desire to stuff our faces.

I know you’re all reading this for vanity purposes and that’s ok, it’s honestly what got me so obsessed; but apart from being a dimple destroyer, grapefruits hold so many other incredible benefits. This once forbidden fruit is LOADED with vitamin C, making it a mega immune booster. It also boasts many other essential nutrients such as, vitamin A, B1, B2, B5, B6, biotin, copper, iron, folate, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, sodium, zinc bioflavonoids, and lycopene to name a few. It helps with inflammatory issues like asthma, chest congestion, as well as osteo and rheumatoid arthritis and helps in the prevention of kidney stones, colon cancer, and tumors. This fiber packed fruit aids in lowering cholesterol and eliminating harmful toxins from the body.

Let me be clear in stating that grapefruit isn’t a miracle cure. You still have to do your part in eating clean, staying away from processed foods and exercising. You should also be drinking lots of water daily to help detoxify the body and stay hydrated. Grapefruits are 90% water. Because of its high water content and abundant amount of vitamin C grapefruits are essential for producing healthy collagen which keeps your complexion plump and smooth!

I am a believer that once you educate yourself on the transformative power of foods, your taste buds start to change and you begin to enjoy the foods that will help heal and nourish you. Thy TEN Fuddhie Beauty Commandments

Without further ado, here are thy 10 Beauty Commandments, a divine dedication to honoring your best YOU.
Real beauty is loyalty to thyself.

#1 Thou shalt not put anything on one’s face or body that one wouldn’t put in thy belly.

This one’s quite simple, if I’m wearing it, I’m eating it! My kitchen and bathroom cabinets essentially hold the same items. I often run to the kitchen to apply my nightly face mask. Your skin is your largest organ and everything you put on it seeps into your bloodstream. So, unless you’re willing to drink sodium laurel sulfate or anything methyl, ethyl, butyl related, then put down the chemically ridden cream and pick up some coconut oil!

 

#2 Thou shalt make sleeping thy number one priority.

IF I CAN PEEP THE SUN, MY SLEEP IS DONE. Don’t be shy, sport that eye mask! There is nothing more beautifying than sacred shut eye. While you’re sleeping your body is repairing and renewing itself, as well as producing copious amounts of collagen, turning back the clock on aging! Nothing comes close to the restorative powers of sleep. A blissful night’s sleep will have you glowing the next day.

 

#3 Thou shalt NEVER leave your water unattended.

My glass water bottle is my baby. Hydration is everything. It plumps your face with that healthy glow, flushes toxins, helps hydrate your cells, and keeps cellulite and wrinkles at bay! Not to mention it is incredibly effective in helping you burn fat, build muscles, and boost brain power. There’s nothing sexier than a smarter you 😉

 

#4 Thou shalt savor sulfur rich foods religiously

Nothing pumps the brakes on aging like good ol’ methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) a.k.a. sulfur. If you want to take a dip in the fountain of youth, look no further than the queen beauty mineral, sulfur. MSM is a collagen building machine that will grant you a beautiful complexion as well as strong hair and nails. Eating foods rich in sulfur is critical for maintaining healthy vibrant skin. Here’s a list of a few sulfur rich foods that I eat daily:

  • coconut
  • garlic
  • onion
  • eggs
  • kale (in smoothies or salads)
  • avocado

 

#5 Thou shalt not shower without a scrub a dub dub.

Clarisonic is my rubber ducky! I have noticed incredible benefits from using it daily. The trick for me has been to wait until the end of my shower/bath when my pores are open to go in for the scrub. Make sure not to neglect the rest of your body as well. Body brushing stimulates your lymphatic system and softens those fat deposits, which in turn helps show those unpleasant toxins the door!

 

#6 Thou shalt love lemons.

LOVE LEMONS, LIVE LEMONS – My house is never void of lemons, they live in my bathroom, my kitchen, my bedroom and even my living room. The night before I go to sleep I cut a lemon in half, squeeze it into my glass bottle, fill it with Mountain Valley Spring Water, and leave it next to my bed. Upon rising I down the entire bottle and I’m instantly energized and feeling beautiful. This simple addition to your morning routine will give you a serious beauty boost both inside and out! #7 Thou shalt sweat it out any way you know how.

This is the best way to stimulate all your organs for detoxification! During exercise you are increasing blood flow, releasing those “feel good” hormones, getting rid of the waste, cranking up collagen production and oxygenating your skin. Oxygenated blood is what helps flood your body with nutrients, and plumping your face full of goodness. This is what gives you that radiant look. I like to switch it up weekly! Pilates, ballet, yoga, hiking, dance, salsa, and sometimes, a simple long walk.

 

#8 Thou shalt drink your facials.

The best facials are the one’s you liquefy. You need to nourish your body from the inside out. Remember the law of the universe, what you focus on expands. Focus on all that you love about yourself. Self doubt and beauty don’t mix. Feed your mind with beautifully healthy thoughts and watch the transformation occur!

 

#10 Thou shalt find pleasure in all that you do.

Being happy is beautiful. Happy people exude an energy that is far more attractive than someone who has spent a fortune on their face regime. Inner beauty is truly infectious! Focus on the beauty of that around you and watch how effortlessly you will attract that beauty onto yourself.
